Oil Sketch

Here is something new! I haven't posted in a while, and I'm not sure about using this blog for "fine art" stuff, but what the heck, here is a sloppy painting.

Oil on paper, 9x12.

It's Earth Day!

A little graphic I did for work. The raw render:

NERD ALERT! Made in Blender with cycles render engine, makes me wish I had a beast of a gfx card to preview, but still wasn't too bad, a 10 min render at 1500 x 2100 on a quad 2.66 cpu (100 passes I think). Minimal post pro, only to remove the banding from the background gradient. Cycles makes 3D fun. The print copy looks fantastic btw ;)

Made entirely with free software, Blender, GIMP, Inkscape on Ubuntu.

Another Cycles Cowboy

Some postpro with the excellent FIL for Gimp, this guy is the nemesis of the other 3D fellow.

Funny how I spent 45 minutes picking colors only to wash them out

Sloppy Cowboys

Some quick colored sketches for the western theme over yonder at the AC Corral:
(BTW sorry Erika I totally (subconsciously) pinched your pyjamas idea :P )

Fun with Cycles!

Some nerd-o facts:
This is an old model from 2.49, except for Suzanne bull-head which I whipped up today. Rendered in yesterday's daily build, using this image as an environment texture with an emitting plane as well, everything else is basically defaults. Raw render, no post pro.

I could have sworn this guy had hair, but who knows where that is 3 years later!
